Meet the Dean

Steve Hollenhorst wearing a Brown Hat

If you've come to this site, you're probably considering a career in the environmental field. Whether you're interested in the natural sciences or the social sciences, global demand is on the rise for properly trained environmental professionals capable of addressing the challenges we face in achieving a sustainable society. Huxley College of the Environment has a fifty year history of producing such leaders. At Huxley, we offer world-class faculty members who are first and foremost teachers but also renowned researchers and scholars. Here you will find a professional staff of advisors and technicians who will help guide you through your education. You'll also find engaged and committed students from throughout the United States and the world who share your concerns and passion for our environment--students who want to make a difference, and are doing so.

Located between the Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound, with Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., both only a short drive away, Huxley College offers a unique location to study the environment. As a Huxley student, you can walk among 800-year-old Alaskan yellow cedars in the morning, watch an Orca pod from one of the San Juan Islands in the afternoon, and explore urban redevelopment in Vancouver or Seattle in the evening. Whatever your environmental interests, Huxley College promises you an applied education in nature's laboratory.

The following web pages should answer many of your questions about who we are and what we do, but we encourage you to give us a call, or better yet, pay us a visit to see for yourself what a Huxley education could do for you… and for the world.
