Environmental Policy

What is the Study of Environmental Policy?

This interdisciplinary program prepares students to enter professional fields concerned with the sustainability of the human and natural environment. The Environmental Policy program consists of a core combined with specialization electives. The core incorporates the interdisciplinary foundation of the College of the Environment's approach to the study of the environment. Environmental policy concentrates studies in public policy development, law, and methods and processes of planning and decision making. The specialization elective component of the program is flexible, and allows students to develop an area of special interest, concentrate on a minor in an academic discipline, or select from a number of thematically oriented course clusters.

Why Consider an Environmental Policy Major?

Do you love solving problems and implementing shared visions for a just and sustainable future in both natural settings and urban communities? Are you interested in working with the laws and policies that govern environmental sustainability, equitable societies, and thriving communities? are you interested in working on policies that preserve open spaces and ensure even economic development in urban and rural settings? Then Environmental Policy is the major for you.
