About the Spatial Institute
The Spatial Institute is an interdisciplinary center for environmental and spatial research housed in WWU's College of the Environment (CENV). The Spatial Institute collaborates with students, staff, and faculty across campus, as well as with public agencies and the broader community.
The Spatial Institute supports the CENV in their goal of preparing both undergraduate and graduate students for meaningful careers, using interdisciplinary approaches to solve environment issues. The CENV offers multiple GIS programs for students to explore.
Mission
The primary mission of the Spatial Institute is to provide leadership in the dissemination of spatial information on campus and to the broader community. This includes education, spatial analysis services on and off campus, and collaborative research opportunities.
Research
Spatial Institute faculty, staff, and graduate fellows are engaged with timely, cutting-edge research. Spatial research projects focus on the use of GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS, Cartography, and Interactive Mapping.
